New release: 2020.1

Hi all,

I’ve pushed a (much overdue!) new release of the OEB to the website.

The main addition is Hosea plus some fixes, and a bunch of behind the scenes infrastructure upgrades.

The next step in the plan is to finish off the Twelve by finishing Amos.  If all goes well, this should take about a month, so release 2020.2 is tentatively schedules for March.

Please let me know any big bad errors so that we can include fixes in the next release!

Best wishes,

Russell

I am interested in using the Open English Bible in some Megavoice devices for use in African countries where English is spoken.  Has anyone done any audio recordings that you are aware of?

Hi John,

I’m not aware of anyone having done audio recordings.

And for the record, you are of course allowed to do audio recordings of the OEB.

Cheers Russell

Hi. I've just recently stumbled on this. I'm looking to use OEB to create a devotional that contains the full text of Proverbs.

How can I help in the completion of Proverbs? I'm also a software developer. Maybe there are some loose tasks that you need help with?

Thanks for all you do.

I've also recently discovered this project.

I am currently working on recording the Psalms.  I'm finding a few archaic
words here and there and a few misplaced commas in my opinion.

I can't speak for the group, but I think the primary need now is reading
of the text for readability.

Hi Mike,
It may be a little while before we get to Proverbs, so I wouldn’t wait if you have a timeframe for your project.

The version on GitHub is a plain dump of an early 20th century translation which we will be using as a base. I would strongly recommend that you don’t use it before it is checked and edited.

If you need something straight away, I think the WEB translation (https://ebible.org/web/) is probably your best bet for a public domain, no restrictions text.

There are definitely loose tasks for a software developer, depending on your skill set and interest!

But I don’t want to mislead on the timeframe for getting to Proverbs.

Cheers Russell

On the other hand, if you want to help out with the OEB then there is

HI John
If you keep a note of what you find, it will definitely be taken into account on the next pass through Psalms
